A Letter to our Prayer Partners
Testimony from Quinn Tesh on her journey to Malaysia
There is power you experience when you say “Yes” to God and drop everything for a trip abandoning the comfort zone solely for Him. Throwing your hands up in surrender to the mystery of what is to come is exciting for some and terrifying to others – I’m one of the “others.” My trip to Malaysia had me paralyzed with fear and dread, in fact initially. Yet, I found that our God is even more powerful than the fear that this petrified teenager felt. As I said “Yes,” prepared mentally and most importantly spiritually, I saw my walk with Christ explode in growth as I found myself fully relying on Him for strength. Before I even step foot on an airplane to travel to Malaysia, the Lord had already taken me to a whole new place in my walk with Him.
When going on a mission trip, some fear the government, some fear the travel, some fear sickness, while others fear the food. Going to Malaysia, I feared what in theory should be the least frightening thing: The sharing of the Gospel. Knowing all the scripture of how we have the power of the Holy Spirit as Christ-followers, I tried to muster up confidence, but I still found myself plagued with anxiety of what I would say, when I would say it, how I would say it, and what in the world would the Malaysians say?! I probably lost seven years of my life and grew three gray hairs from worrying about these pointless things while in the mean time Christ gently picked me up, placed me in the passenger seat, took the wheel, and led me through one word at a time. One of my favorite stories in the Bible is the one of Phillip and the Ethiopian where God said Phillip simply “opened his mouth” and the Lord spoke… Firsthand I experienced this supernatural power when God transformed fear to actual, comprehensible words - Only because of Christ’s power was I able to open my heart and mouth to the lost in Malaysia and get to see lives added to the kingdom!
